Wayne Johnson

My name is Wayne Johnson and I am a pastel and graphite artist living in Markham. My wife and I moved here recently from South America. I took up pastels and drawing about 7 years ago while living in Ecuador. I have no formal training but I have learned from watching YouTube and other websites and a few books. My wife is also an artist and even though she paints in oils, I have learned a lot from her as well. I enjoy painting landscapes and portraits. I would describe my work as painterly leaning toward realism though some of my work is closer to impressionism. I exhibited my work both in Ecuador and recently in Richmond hill. My goal as a member of SOYRA is to get to know some in the local art community, to improve my painting skills and participate in some local shows or exhibits.
