Come when you can, leave when you want.
Creating work ‘en plein air’ can be an invigorating experience for any artist, beginner to advanced.
If you're a studio artist, an artist who mainly works from photographs or from your device, painting outdoors from real life will give you an insight you cannot get any other way. You'll be amazed at what you can create in just a few hours. It doesn’t have to be a finished piece. It can be a study for a future work or you can begin a piece and finish it back in your studio.
Taking part in SOYRA plein air events will also give you the added benefit of painting along with other likeminded member artists, see how they work and perhaps, begin building lifelong friendships.
Moving forward into spring and summer, SOYRA member Dave Dixon will work together with a dedicated group of artists to organize SOYRA’s plein air events. These members will recommend and secure locations, advise of dates and times, as well as deal with any special requirements for a given plein air event.
Dates and Locations for April
April 5 - Aurora, Yonge Sreet south to Kennedy Street
April 12 - Main Street, Newmarket, Davis Drive to Fairy Lake
April 19 - Main Street, Schomberg
